Foxconn Chairman Young Liu has arrived in Bengaluru to review the company’s upcoming iPhone assembly plant. The plant, spread over 300 acres, is expected to be one of the largest in India, assembling 20 million smartphones annually. Liu’s visit is a significant milestone in the project, which has seen an investment of ₹22,000 crore and is expected to create over 50,000 jobs.
The Karnataka government has welcomed Liu’s visit, highlighting the state’s growing importance in the electronics manufacturing sector. The government has offered various incentives and support to attract investments in the sector, including amendments to the Factories Act to allow for longer working hours. Once operational, the plant will be a major boost to the state’s economy and cement Karnataka’s position as a hub for electronics manufacturing.
