Karnataka-based startups are going global, thanks to the state government’s Global Innovation Alliance – Market Access Programme (GIA-MAP). Since September 2023, 40 startups have benefited from this initiative.
These startups operate in sectors like deep tech, aerospace, defense, ed-tech, life sciences, med-tech, and cybersecurity. Startups from Hubballi, Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, Chitradurga, and Bengaluru have expanded into international markets. IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge said GIA-MAP helps matured startups venture into leading global startup ecosystems.
GIA-MAP provides financial support, reimbursing up to 80% of travel costs, and mentorship to build partnerships and navigate international regulations. The program prioritizes countries offering welcome packages and considers market accessibility, tech focus alignment, government incentives, funding opportunities, and stability.
With a Rs 3 crore budget allocation, GIA-MAP aims to facilitate global expansion, connect startups with international businesses, and provide mentorship. The program’s outcomes include market access progress, stakeholder meetings, and tangible milestones for Karnataka startups.
