The Tata Nexon.ev has become the first electric vehicle in India to receive a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. This achievement highlights the car’s excellent safety features for both adult and child occupants, making it a standout choice in the Indian EV market.
Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari praised Tata Motors for this milestone, emphasizing the importance of high safety standards in the growing electric vehicle sector. He stated that a strong Bharat NCAP rating is crucial for consumers when choosing safer vehicles and reflects the high level of safety provided to the occupants.
The Nexon.ev scored 29.86 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 44.95 out of 49 points for child occupant safety. The vehicle performed well in various tests, including the frontal offset deformable barrier test and the side movable deformable barrier test, ensuring good protection for the head, neck, and torso of the occupants. This high safety rating is consistent across both the Medium Range (MR) and Long Range (LR) variants of the Tata Nexon.ev.
