SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch have issued a strong response to allegations levelled against them, claiming that their income tax returns were obtained illegally and used to create a false narrative.
The couple denied all allegations, stating that their income tax returns were obtained through fraudulent means and used to twist facts and create a false narrative. They emphasized their commitment to transparency and dignity, highlighting their unblemished record as professionals.
The allegations against the Buchs started with a report by Hindenburg Research, which levelled accusations against SEBI and its chief. The report was followed by allegations from Congress party spokesperson Pawan Khera, who claimed that Madhabi Buch received a salary from ICICI Bank while at SEBI. However, ICICI Bank clarified that Buch did not receive any salary or ESOPs after her retirement in 2013.
The Buchs have reserved the right to take legal action against motivated allegations, emphasizing their confidence in demolishing false claims.
