The Supreme Court has given a clean chit to Adani Group, and its shares have returned to pre-Hindenburg levels
Mahesh Jethmalani, a prominent lawyer and Rajya Sabha MP, has spoken out against the campaign targeting Adani Group, calling it a failed attempt at “crony capitalism”. In an interview with NDTV, Jethmalani alleged that Chinese links were involved in the Hindenburg Research report that led to a market crash and significant losses for Indian retail investors. He claimed that the report was a “hit job” aimed at promoting Chinese strategic interests by undermining an Indian corporate competitor.
Jethmalani’s allegations suggest that a businessman with Chinese links commissioned the report, which led to short selling and a significant drop in Adani Group shares in January 2023. He also claimed that the actions were supported by the INDIA bloc under the guise of opposing “crony capitalism”. The Supreme Court has given a clean chit to Adani Group, and its shares have returned to pre-Hindenburg levels, indicating that the campaign against the group has backfired.
