OpenAI has officially launched its ChatGPT app for Windows, bringing its AI-powered chatbot to desktop users. This early version is now available for download from the Microsoft Store, following the release of the Mac version earlier this year.
The ChatGPT app allows users to seamlessly interact with the AI while managing other tasks. However, some features like voice modes, Google Drive and OneDrive integration, and third-party authentication are currently unavailable. Despite these limitations, users can upload files and photos for analysis using the new o1 model.
The app offers convenient features like instant focus with “Alt + Space” and remembering its last screen position. OpenAI plans to expand access to free-tier users in the coming months. For now, it’s available to paid subscribers of Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu plans.
The ChatGPT app requires Windows 10 (x64 and arm64) version 17763.0 or higher and integrates well with users’ computing environments. While some advanced functionalities are missing, OpenAI promises to include them in future releases.
