  • Ola allegedly duplicated MapMyIndia’s API and SDKs, violating their agreement.
  • The legal dispute could impact Ola’s IPO and reputation in the digital mapping market.

MapMyIndia’s parent company, CE Info Systems, has filed a lawsuit against Ola Electric, alleging that the ride-hailing company stole proprietary data to build its own mapping service, Ola Maps. According to the lawsuit, Ola copied MapMyIndia’s API and SDKs, violating their agreement signed in June 2021.
Ola launched Ola Maps in July, claiming it was developed using open-source data and real-time information from its fleet. However, CE Info Systems disputes this, alleging that Ola misused confidential information and trade secrets.
The legal dispute comes as Ola prepares to launch its IPO and promotes Ola Maps as a cost-effective alternative to Google Maps. If the allegations are proven, it could have significant implications for Ola’s reputation and finances.
