Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, was honored by his alma mater, IIT Kharagpur, with an honorary Doctor of Science degree. The ceremony, held in San Francisco, was an emotional homecoming for Pichai, who graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 1993 with a BTech in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
Pichai expressed his gratitude and humility in receiving the award, highlighting the significant impact IIT Kharagpur had on his journey. He also acknowledged the recognition of his wife, Anjali Pichai, who received the Distinguished Alumnus Award for her professional achievements.
Pichai expressed his desire to collaborate with IIT Kharagpur to create greater technological solutions, stating, “I look forward to connecting with IIT-Kharagpur to manifest greater technological solutions in partnership with Google.” The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Pichai’s parents and daughter.
