OpenAI has made its ChatGPT desktop app available for free to Mac users, allowing them to access the AI assistant directly from their desktop. The app is compatible with macOS 14+ devices running on Apple Silicon (M1 or better) and can be downloaded from OpenAI’s website.
The ChatGPT desktop app offers a seamless user experience, mirroring the web interface and supporting text and voice input, as well as image and file uploads. Mac users can now conveniently access ChatGPT from any screen using the shortcut Option + Space keys.
While Mac users can enjoy the free app, OpenAI has not forgotten about Windows users. The company has confirmed that a ChatGPT app for Windows is in development and will be released later this year. This move is expected to expand the reach of ChatGPT’s AI capabilities to a wider audience.
