Tech millionaire Bryan Johnson, known for his quest to combat aging, has taken a bold step by undergoing gene therapy on a remote island in Honduras. The island, Roatan, hosts new-age experimental technology companies, including Minicircle, in a zone called Prospera. Johnson believes this latest procedure, although not FDA-approved, could significantly impact his efforts to extend human lifespan.

Gene therapy involves altering a person’s genes to treat or cure diseases. It can replace faulty genes, turn off problematic ones, or introduce new genes to help the body fight diseases. Johnson’s specific therapy, Follistatin gene therapy, aims to enhance strength and muscle mass while potentially slowing the aging process. Despite the experimental nature, early results have shown promising outcomes.

Six months after undergoing Follistatin gene therapy, Johnson reported a 7% increase in muscle mass and a 5% overall weight gain. Remarkably, his Follistatin levels surged by 160% just three weeks post-treatment. While gene therapy may not promise eternal life, it offers a glimpse into breaking the current human age ceiling of around 120 years.

Currently, only one person, Jeanne Calment, has lived beyond 120 years, reaching 122 years and 164 days. Johnson’s efforts reflect a growing interest in leveraging cutting-edge science to push the boundaries of human longevity.
