  • Reliance Retail is piloting a one-hour delivery service for groceries and FMCG products in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
  • The service is integrated into the Jiomart app as a ‘hyperlocal delivery’ option.
  • Reliance plans to reduce delivery time to 30-45 minutes as more stores are linked to the system.

Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries, is testing a new delivery service that promises to deliver groceries and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products within an hour. The pilot project is currently active in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai areas, with plans to expand to other markets soon.
Unlike other quick commerce players that rely on a large fleet of delivery personnel, Reliance Retail plans to fulfill orders from its existing store network and warehouses. In areas where Reliance stores are limited, the company plans to partner with kirana stores that have joined the JioMart Partner initiative.
The one-hour delivery service is a significant improvement over Reliance’s current delivery times, which can take up to 12 hours or even 3 days. The company plans to expand its hyperlocal delivery service to include apparel and electronic items in the future.
