Ola Electric has unveiled the “Bharat” battery cell, a groundbreaking indigenous 4680 cell developed in India. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal proudly announced that the company built the technology itself, boasting over 70 patents. The Bharat cell offers impressive performance, with five times more energy density and faster charging times than the 2170 cells currently used in Ola’s scooters.
This innovation marks a significant step towards self-reliance in battery technology for India’s electric vehicle industry. Ola Electric is also set to launch an electric motorcycle portfolio, targeting a significant share of the rapidly growing EV market. The company has already established a strong presence in the electric scooter market with its S1 and S1 Pro models.
