  • Features upgraded graphics with ray tracing and DLSS 4 for a modern look.

The Half-Life 2 RTX demo just dropped on Steam, giving fans a fresh take on the classic shooter. Made by Orbifold Studios, this community project needs a solid PC to run. At minimum, you’ll need an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card with DLSS turned on, plus an Intel Core-i7 8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 50GB of SSD space. Oh, and you must already own Half-Life 2 to play it. NVIDIA says a GeForce RTX 50 Series card is ideal, but older GPUs can still work with some tweaks.

This demo isn’t just a quick polish—it’s a big upgrade. The team’s using RTX Remix to add full ray tracing, sharper textures, and better models, making everything from buildings to lighting look real and crisp in 4K. They’re even sprucing up particles and animations to match today’s games. It’s still the Half-Life 2 you love, just way prettier. The full version’s coming later, but no date yet.

NVIDIA also rolled out a new RTX Remix update alongside this. It’s packed with stuff like DLSS 4, AI tools, and features modders asked for, all to make old games look amazing. Orbifold Studios, known for projects like Half-Life 2: VR, is behind this, and they’re going all out to bring the 2004 classic into 2025. If your PC’s ready, you can jump in now and see the difference for yourself.
