Among Us 3D Brings New Infected Mode: What You Need to Know

Infected Mode turns caught players into zombies instead of ejecting them.

  • Infected Mode turns caught players into zombies instead of ejecting them.
  • Available on PC and VR with crossplay, but not with classic Among Us.
  • Features first-person view, new tasks, and tons of customization options.

The popular social deduction game Among Us 3D is getting an exciting twist with a new mode called Infected Mode. Developer InnerSloth revealed this zombified gameplay during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase at the Game Developers Conference 2025. Unlike the original game, where caught players get booted off the ship, Infected Mode keeps them in the action as creepy zombie crewmates. This mode will launch with Among Us 3D on both PC and VR platforms.

In Infected Mode, the stakes are higher and the pace is faster. If you’re caught, you don’t just leave—you become food for the Infected, who are out to get the surviving crew. This means no more quiet sneaking around; you’ll need to move quickly to stay alive. The shift to a first-person view makes it even more intense, putting you right in the middle of the chaos as you dodge zombified friends.

Among Us 3D also brings cool new features to the table. You’ll get to use Native Proximity Voice Chat to talk with your crew in-game, making teamwork (or betrayal) feel more real. New tasks come with first-person controls, and the game offers endless ways to customize your character with hats, gloves, and skins. It’s crossplay-ready with Among Us VR, so you can play with friends on different devices—but it won’t work with the classic 2D version. A free demo was available during Steam Next Fest from February 26 to March 4, giving players an early taste of the action.
