The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made a significant breakthrough in a money laundering investigation linked to the online gaming app ‘E-Nugget’. The agency seized Rs 90 crore from cryptocurrency wallets associated with exchanges such as Binance, ZebPay, and WazirX. ‘E-Nugget’ lured users with promises of high returns, only to reveal its fraudulent nature, leaving investors in distress. This scam came to light following an FIR at Kolkata’s Park Street Police Station, leading to an ED case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The investigation uncovered a web of illicit activities, exposing the app’s deceptive practices. Two individuals, Aamir Khan and Romen Agarwal, were apprehended, and a charge sheet has been filed against them. The ED’s meticulous efforts resulted in the identification of approximately 2,500 dummy bank accounts utilized in the scam. Alongside the cryptocurrency seizure, the agency has frozen, attached, or seized assets totaling Rs 163 crore, including cash, cryptocurrencies, bank account balances, and office properties.
