Adobe has introduced its Firefly AI into Acrobat Reader, enabling users to create and edit images directly within PDF documents. This integration marks the first time generative image capabilities are available in a PDF solution. Acrobat’s AI Assistant now supports various document types, including PDFs, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint files.

With tools like Generative Fill, Remove Background, Erase, and Crop, users can easily enhance document images by removing unwanted objects, changing backgrounds, and adding new visuals. The Firefly Image 3 Model allows users to quickly generate new images within PDFs, adjusting size and style to create professional-quality visuals without design expertise.

The AI Assistant also helps users extract key themes and trends from multiple documents and provides intelligent citations for synthesized information. Additionally, new features automatically generate summaries of virtual meetings, highlighting main topics and action items, helping users stay informed and aligned with team goals.

Adobe emphasizes its commitment to ethical AI use, ensuring that Firefly AI is trained on licensed content and public domain images. All content created with Firefly includes Content Credentials for transparency. From June 18 to June 28, 2024, Adobe offers free access to all Acrobat AI Assistant features, with subscription options available afterward
