The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced significant upgrades to UPI Lite, effective November 1. These changes aim to enhance user experience for small transactions.
Key updates include:

Increased transaction limit: Users can now conduct transactions up to ₹1,000 without entering a PIN, doubling the previous limit.

Auto top-up feature: Users can set up automatic fund transfers from their bank account to their UPI Lite wallet when the balance falls below a chosen threshold.

Higher wallet balance: Maximum wallet balance increased from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000.
These updates make UPI Lite more practical for daily expenses like groceries and public transport. With 16.58 billion transactions worth ₹23.5 trillion in October 2024, UPI continues to grow rapidly. The NPCI’s enhancements will further boost digital payments, making them more convenient and hassle-free.
