WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to create personalized avatars of themselves using AI technology. As reported by WABetaInfo, the feature is currently under development and was spotted on WhatsApp Beta for Android. To create an avatar, users will need to upload images of themselves and provide text prompts, which will then be used to train Meta’s AI Llama model to generate the images.
The feature is not yet available to all users and has to be enabled manually in the settings. Additionally, users can delete the reference images used to create the avatar at any time. This feature is part of Meta’s efforts to integrate AI technology into its platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
Meta has also launched its AI chatbot, which can create images and answer questions, among other features. Users can access the chatbot by tapping on the blue hollow circle in the top right corner of the app or searching for “Meta AI” in the search bar.
