- Swiggy and Zomato reduce free delivery range from 10km to 7km for premium members.
- Customers express frustration over the policy change.
- Both platforms offer premium memberships at Rs 99 per month with additional benefits.
Swiggy and Zomato, the two leading food delivery services in India, have quietly reduced the free delivery range for their premium members. Previously, premium members enjoyed free delivery from restaurants within a 10-kilometer radius, but this has now been reduced to 7 kilometers. Both Swiggy’s One membership and Zomato’s Gold membership are priced at Rs 99 per month.
Customers have taken to social media to express their frustration with the change. One customer questioned the value of the premium membership, stating that nearby restaurants often offer free delivery themselves. Another customer called the reduction from 10km to 7km outrageous and wondered why it wasn’t getting more attention.
Swiggy One members benefit from free delivery on orders above Rs 199 from restaurants within a 7km radius, along with a 30% extra discount at select restaurants. They also get unlimited free Swiggy Instamart delivery for orders over Rs 99 and a 10% instant discount on Genie’s delivery fee.
Zomato Gold members also get free delivery from restaurants within a 7km radius on orders above Rs 199, with additional discounts of up to 30%. The membership is usually priced at Rs 999 for three months, but ongoing discounts allow customers to get it for as low as Rs 99 or Rs 149.
Zomato has reduced its Gold free delivery range up to just 7 kms???
This is pure nonsense.
Nearby restaurants themselves do a free delivery why would I pay for gold then?
I hope Swiggy doesn’t copy this and reduce their 10km mark to 7km now. pic.twitter.com/miBan28yjy— Ripudaman (@mrtechsense) June 23, 2024
