Indian hockey legend PR Sreejesh has been awarded the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year award for the third time. The 36-year-old, who retired after winning a second consecutive Olympic bronze medal at Paris 2024, was recognized for his outstanding performances.
Sreejesh, nicknamed “The Wall of Indian Hockey,” had a stellar 18-year career with 366 appearances for India. His achievements include two Olympic medals, two Asian Games gold medals, and several other international honors. Delhi SG Pipers, his franchise team, congratulated him on this prestigious award.
Graham Reid, Delhi SG Pipers Head Coach, praised Sreejesh’s dedication, skill, and sportsmanship, saying he “transcends the game of hockey and the era in which he played.” Sreejesh expressed his delight, hoping this award will inspire the next generation of Indian goalkeepers.
