Meta has introduced its AI chatbot, Meta AI, for users in India across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. This chatbot, already available in countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, is designed to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, and Google’s Gemini. Based on Llama 3, Meta AI is currently available in English.
Meta AI can assist with various tasks, such as planning a weekend getaway, preparing for an interview, or writing an assignment. It can also generate images using the syntax “/imagine” followed by a prompt, with the resulting images watermarked with “With AI Imagined.” Users can save or share these images across platforms. However, Meta AI will not create images of popular personalities like Elon Musk or Taylor Swift.
On Facebook, users can ask Meta AI for more information about pictures in their Feed. For example, if a user sees a photo of the northern lights, they can ask when is the best time to see the aurora borealis. On Instagram, Meta AI can suggest Reels based on search queries.
To access Meta AI, users will see a blue hollow circle in the top right corner of the app or can search for “Meta AI” in the WhatsApp search bar. On WhatsApp, users can summon the chatbot by writing “@MetaAI” followed by their prompt.
