Indian Railways is gearing up to manufacture high-speed trains with a top speed of 280 kmph. The Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is partnering with BEML to design and build these advanced train sets. This initiative follows the success of Vande Bharat trains, highlighting India’s growing capabilities in modern rail technology under the “Make in India” program.

Each high-speed train car will cost approximately ₹28 crore, making the project globally competitive. These trains will feature cutting-edge technologies, including aerodynamic exteriors, sealed gangways, advanced propulsion systems, and climate control for passenger comfort. Safety features like CCTV, fire safety equipment, and automatic doors will also be included.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also updated on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, a 508-km bullet train corridor supported by Japan. Construction, including pier work and an undersea tunnel, is progressing steadily, with all required land acquired.

These developments underscore Indian Railways’ commitment to revolutionizing travel with faster, safer, and more comfortable options.
