A recent survey by Park+ has revealed that over 50% of Indian EV owners are unhappy with their purchase and plan to switch back to traditional vehicles. The survey highlighted several concerns, including charging anxiety, maintenance costs, and resale value.
Charging anxiety has become a significant issue, with 88% of EV owners struggling to find accessible, safe, and operational charging stations. Maintenance costs are also a challenge, with 73% finding EVs difficult to understand and repair. Local mechanics often lack the expertise to address even minor issues, leading to uncertainty about costs.
The survey also found that resale value is a major concern, with 33% reporting a significant decrease in their vehicle’s value. This is compounded by the lack of widespread testing methods to determine the quality of an EV’s battery, which constitutes a substantial portion of the vehicle’s value. Overall, EV owners reported higher levels of dissatisfaction compared to traditional vehicle owners.
