Google Play Store to Introduce Auto Open Feature for Apps

  • Google Play Store may soon auto-launch apps after installation.
  • The feature, found in an APK teardown, is optional and can be toggled on or off.
  • Users will see a notification when the app auto-launches.

The Google Play Store is set to introduce a new feature called “App Auto Open,” which will automatically launch apps immediately after they are installed. This feature was discovered by Android Authority in an APK teardown of the Google Play Store version 41.4.19.

When activated, the App Auto Open feature will display a notification banner at the top of the screen for five seconds, alerting users with a sound or vibration depending on their device settings. Users can choose to silence this notification if they prefer.

App Auto Open will be an optional feature, allowing users to toggle it on or off according to their preferences. By default, it will be turned on. This new feature is still in the testing phase and not yet live, but it promises to be especially useful for users who often forget to open apps immediately after downloading them.

Though APK teardowns provide insights into potential upcoming features, there is no guarantee that App Auto Open will be publicly released. However, if implemented, it will streamline the app installation process on Android devices.
