Atletico Madrid has taken swift action against a fan who threw an object onto the pitch during Sunday’s LaLiga match against Real Madrid. The fan, identified by police, has been permanently banned from the stadium.
The match was suspended for 20 minutes in the second half after Atletico fans threw objects towards Real’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois following the visitors’ goal. However, Atletico salvaged a 1-1 draw with Angel Correa’s added-time goal.
Atletico’s Security Department is working with police to identify other fans involved, who will also face permanent expulsion. The club aims to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all spectators.
Additionally, Atletico will prohibit the use of masks, hoods, or any garments that conceal a person’s identity inside the stadium. This measure aims to prevent similar incidents in the future. Atletico, currently fourth in LaLiga, will face Benfica in the Champions League on Wednesday.
