Huawei has launched its highly anticipated Mate 70 series, Mate X6 foldable, and MatePad Pro devices in Shenzhen, all running on the company’s proprietary HarmonyOS NEXT. These new devices highlight Huawei’s focus on seamless connectivity, with features like gesture-controlled file transfers, which allow users to send content between devices without physical touch. The innovations also include AI-powered navigation and hands-free operations, elevating Huawei’s offerings above its competitors.
The launch comes amid escalating US-China tensions and sanctions imposed on Huawei since 2019, which cut the company off from essential US technologies. Despite these restrictions, Huawei has pushed forward, with the new Mate 70 series running on a domestically developed chip and OS, signaling a major step towards independence from Western tech.
The Mate 70 series includes three variants—Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, and Mate 70 Pro+—with prices ranging from CNY 5,499 (₹64,000) to CNY 12,999 (₹1.51 lakh). The Mate X6 foldable phone starts at CNY 12,999 and offers top-tier features, including a 6.45-inch LTPO 2.0 display and a 5,200mAh battery.
Lots of really innovative features, including by far the most advanced gesture controls, thanks to the powerful cameras and sensors under the screen. The screen is the most advanced on a phone, which is why they had to move the fingerprint sensor to the side. pic.twitter.com/xJnDUhh7M6
