- India is a global leader in GenAI adoption, with more daily users than the US.
- Consumers are willing to pay more for better 5G connectivity, especially during live events.
According to Ericsson’s 2024 ConsumerLab report, India has emerged as a leader in 5G adoption, with 180 million active users across urban areas. The report highlights an impressive rise in user satisfaction, particularly in Tier 3 cities, where 5G performance and availability have seen significant improvements. Satisfaction among 5G users increased from 48% in 2023 to 57% in 2024.
India is also leading the world in GenAI adoption. The report reveals that Indian users are engaging with GenAI applications at twice the rate of users in the US, with 21% of them using four or more AI apps daily. This includes a variety of applications such as AI-powered writing tools, personalized shopping assistants, and advanced editing software.
As 5G and GenAI applications grow, demand for reliable connectivity is also increasing. Many Indian users are willing to pay more for premium services that ensure good performance in crowded spaces like live events and tourist attractions. This shift is opening up new opportunities for telecom operators to offer premium services focused on reliability and low latency.
