- Recall AI captures and organizes user activity for better productivity.
- Privacy-focused design with encrypted, locally stored data.
- Interactive Click to Do feature adds functionality to snapshots.
Microsoft has launched the first preview of its Recall AI for Copilot Plus PCs, now available to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. Recall uses AI to create a searchable timeline of user activity, helping users find past apps, websites, or tasks easily with natural language queries.
The feature is designed with privacy in mind, requiring users to opt-in before activation. Snapshots of activities are stored locally and encrypted, ensuring that data cannot be accessed by Microsoft or third parties. Users can also manage what is recorded, exclude specific apps, and delete saved data at any time.
In addition to Recall, Microsoft introduced the “Click to Do” feature, which enables users to perform actions like copying text or saving images directly from snapshots. This interactive tool will soon support advanced tasks like visual searches on YouTube videos using Bing.
Currently, Recall AI is available only on Qualcomm-powered Copilot Plus PCs, with support for Intel and AMD systems coming soon. Microsoft plans a phased rollout to refine the feature based on user feedback.
