Jaguar Range Rover, a UK luxury carmaker owned by Tata Motors, has launched its first manufacturing facility in Pune, India. This significant milestone is celebrated as the company begins producing luxury SUVs outside the UK for the first time, aligning with the “Make in India” initiative and promising increased affordability for Indian customers.

Geraldine Ingham, Global Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover, expressed immense pride in this achievement. Speaking to Tech Today’s Aayush Ailawadi, Ingham highlighted the positive impact of local manufacturing on the brand’s growth in India, emphasizing the company’s commitment to meeting the rising demand from Indian customers.

In addition to local manufacturing, Range Rover is set to introduce the highly anticipated Range Rover Electric. Ingham shared her excitement, noting the vehicle’s exceptional performance and the significant global interest it has garnered. With 33,000 global reservations and 400 from India, the electric model is poised to make a strong entry into the market.

With local production, the waiting period for new Range Rover vehicles in India will significantly decrease, and prices will drop by 18-22%. For instance, the Range Rover Sport’s price will decrease from Rs 1.9 crore to Rs 1.4 crore, with deliveries starting in August. The Pune facility will also assemble the Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-PACE, and Discovery Sport, further expanding the company’s footprint in India.
