This reconstruction aims to provide a detailed visualisation of the accident scene to enhance evidence appreciation. A senior police officer stated that while AI tools are commonly used in murder cases, this is the first time they will be applied to an accident case.
The crash involved a 17-year-old teenager, the son of a Pune-based builder, who was driving under the influence. His Porsche collided with a bike at high speed, causing the fatal accident. The digital reconstruction will map the route from the teenager’s home to Cosie Restaurant, Blak Club, and finally to the accident site in Kalyani Nagar. The police will use CCTV footage and photos to create a 3D image or walk-through of the crime scene.
This case has gained significant attention, especially after the teenager was released on bail with a requirement to write a 300-word essay expressing remorse. Currently, the teenager is in an observation home, while his father and grandfather have been arrested for obstructing the investigation. The use of AI tools in this case underscores the increasing reliance on technology for solving complex cases and enhancing investigative accuracy.
