OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared his excitement on Twitter about the integration of ChatGPT into Apple devices, expected later this year. Altman highlighted the potential for enhanced user experiences, as ChatGPT will improve Siri’s ability to gather context and provide personalized responses. Apple’s Craig Federighi confirmed at WWDC 2024 that various AI models will be supported in the future.

The integration will allow Siri to cross-reference information from different apps, making tasks like scheduling events more seamless. Users can access ChatGPT for free without creating an account, with their information remaining private. Paid ChatGPT users will have access to premium features by linking their accounts.

The announcement drew criticism from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who expressed security concerns and threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies. However, a correction on Musk’s tweet clarified that Apple has developed its own AI, Apple Intelligence, and will use ChatGPT only with user permission.
