Nvidia, a leading GPU manufacturer, has announced record profits of $14 billion, attributed primarily to the skyrocketing demand for its AI-powered chips. CEO Jensen Huang revealed a bold move to accelerate chip architecture releases, shifting to an annual cycle to maintain dominance in the AI market.

During the Q1 2025 earnings call, Huang confirmed plans for the successor to the Blackwell architecture, codenamed “Rubin,” slated for a 2025 release. This accelerated cadence extends across Nvidia’s entire product range, promising rapid advancements in CPUs, GPUs, and networking chips.

The announcement comes amidst unprecedented demand for Nvidia’s H100 AI GPUs, driven by the widespread adoption of generative AI technologies. Meta, among other industry leaders, is aggressively investing in Nvidia chips, with plans to deploy over 350,000 H100 GPUs by year’s end. Nvidia’s CFO also highlighted the automotive sector’s growing demand, with Tesla purchasing 35,000 H100 GPUs for its self-driving program.

Nvidia’s strategic shift reflects the company’s commitment to staying ahead in the competitive AI landscape, ensuring it remains at the forefront of groundbreaking technological advancements.
