Despite a national slowdown, the IT sector in Bengaluru and Hyderabad is experiencing significant job growth. According to data from Indeed, Hyderabad saw a 41.5% increase in IT job postings, while Bengaluru experienced a 24% rise from April 2023 to April 2024. These cities are becoming increasingly important hubs for IT professionals.
Interest from job seekers in these cities has also grown significantly. In Hyderabad, job clicks increased by 161%, and in Bengaluru, they went up by 80%. This surge in interest indicates more people are looking for IT jobs in these cities.
However, on a national level, IT job postings have decreased by 3.6%. This suggests that tech companies are cautious about hiring due to the uncertain global economy. Despite recent layoffs, IT jobs remain attractive because they require specialized skills and training.
Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India, noted that software and IT positions are in high demand, both from those already in the field and from individuals seeking new career opportunities. He emphasized the importance of gaining key skills such as analysis, agile methodologies, APIs, JavaScript, and SQL to stand out in this competitive job market.
