Google Expands Office Space in Bengaluru with Major Lease Deal

Google has leased a significant 649,000 square feet of office space in Alembic City, Whitefield, Bengaluru, as per a report by ET. This new lease comes with a hefty monthly rental rate of Rs 4.02 crore, under a three-year lock-in period. The office space costs Rs 62 per square foot.

This expansion follows Google’s recent job shifts, moving some positions from the US to India. In addition to this new lease, Google has renewed and expanded its office space in other parts of India, including a 600,000 sq. ft. office in Hyderabad and a 1.3 million sq. ft. space from Bagmane Developers in Bengaluru. Since 2020, Google’s office space in India has increased by 3.5 million sq. ft., now totaling 9.3 million sq. ft. across five cities.

Moreover, Google is broadening its operations in India by stepping into manufacturing. The company plans to start producing Pixel smartphones at a Foxconn facility in Tamil Nadu and begin drone manufacturing in the state. Production of the Pixel 8 model in India is set to commence soon, following plans announced at the Google for India conference last year.
