Kabosu first gained internet fame in 2010 with a meme featuring her crossed paws and curious expression. This image later inspired software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer to create Dogecoin in 2013, a cryptocurrency that started as a joke but quickly gained popularity.
Dogecoin’s value soared in 2020, especially after Tesla CEO Elon Musk began tweeting about it. Musk even replaced Twitter’s logo with Kabosu’s image for a brief period, helping Dogecoin reach a market capitalization of around $23.6 billion.
