Digi Yatra’s airport check-in app recently underwent a sudden migration, leaving users confused as the original app stopped working without notice. A new app appeared on Play Store and App Store, causing further confusion due to its low ratings.

In an exclusive interview with Tech Today’s Aayush Ailawadi, Digi Yatra Foundation CEO Suresh Khadakbhavi explained the abrupt change. He stated that the rapid growth of the app since its launch in December 2022 necessitated a new, more scalable app to handle the increasing volume of users.

Khadakbhavi acknowledged the transition wasn’t smooth but emphasized the new app allows easier feature updates without needing full app updates. He assured that the issue has been addressed by prompting users in the old app to switch. Currently, 2 million out of 4.5 million users have moved to the new app.

The Digi Yatra app, developed under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, provides seamless airport access through facial recognition, offering faster check-in and boarding at 13 domestic airports in India.
