  • OpenAI has made advanced ChatGPT features free, including custom GPTs and data analytics.
  • Free users can now access GPTs like an on-demand thesaurus and Ikea shopping guide.
  • Data analytics and chart creation tools are now available to free users, with integrations for OneDrive and Google Drive.

In early May, OpenAI updated ChatGPT to expand its capabilities for free users. These new features, which were previously available only to paid subscribers, now include access to custom GPTs, data analytics, chart creation, and photo analysis.

OpenAI announced on Twitter that free users can now use browse, vision, data analysis, file uploads, and GPTs. This means that all ChatGPT users, regardless of their subscription status, can explore models like an on-demand thesaurus and an Ikea shopping guide. Additionally, creators of custom GPTs can join a revenue-sharing program.

Free users can also take advantage of data analytics and chart creation features. These tools allow users to connect data from OneDrive and Google Drive for quicker analysis and customizable charts. However, paying subscribers still benefit from fewer message limits and other perks.

Despite these updates, free users will revert to GPT-3.5 after reaching the message limit on GPT-4. While OpenAI has removed the Sky voice, which was popular for its resemblance to Scarlett Johansson’s performance in “Her,” other voice options remain available.
