Zoomcar, a Bengaluru-based car rental company, has terminated its CEO and co-founder Greg Moran after a 12-year tenure. The move comes after the company’s revenue projections fell short of expectations, with actual revenues for the year ended March 31, 2023, standing at $8.8 million, significantly lower than the projected $21.6 million.
Moran, who founded Zoomcar in 2013 with David Back, expressed his pride in what the company has achieved and thanked the team and customers for their support. He also hinted at taking a break before exploring new opportunities. Hiroshi Nishijima, the company’s COO, has been appointed as interim CEO.
Zoomcar provides car rental services on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis and has attracted investments from several prominent investors, including Peak XV, Ford Smart Mobility, and Mahindra & Mahindra. The company’s next chapter of growth will be led by Nishijima, who will aim to steer the company back on track.
