Kiran Rao’s directorial “Laapataa Ladies” is now available on Netflix, after its theatrical release on March 1. This heartwarming Indian comedy-drama film has been selected as India’s official entry for Oscars 2025.
The movie follows the journey of two brides, Phool and Jaya, who accidentally swap places on a train. As they navigate their new lives, they confront societal expectations and limitations faced by women in a patriarchal setting.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, “Laapataa Ladies” marks Kiran Rao’s return after “Dhobi Ghat.”
