The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a warning to Android users with Qualcomm and MediaTek chipsets, citing “high risk” vulnerabilities that can be exploited by attackers. These vulnerabilities exist in Android versions 12, 12L, 13, and 14 and can be used to access sensitive information and gain elevated privileges.
To protect their devices, users are advised to update to the latest Android version, enable auto-updates, and download apps from trusted platforms like the Google Play Store. Additionally, users should avoid clicking on links sent via unsolicited messages and emails.
This warning comes as CERT-In also issued a “severe” warning for Apple users regarding multiple vulnerabilities in iPhones, iPads, Macs, and more. These vulnerabilities can expose users to risks like information leaks, unauthorised code execution, and denial of service attacks.
