SpaceX is set to make history with its Polaris Dawn mission, launching on September 6 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. This groundbreaking mission will feature the first-ever spacewalk by private citizens, including billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman and his crew. The mission aims to reach a peak altitude of 870 miles, the highest in over 50 years, since NASA’s Apollo program.
The crew will wear newly designed SpaceX extravehicular activity suits, complete with 3D-printed helmets and stretchable, fireproof material. The spacewalk will take place on the third day of the mission, with Isaacman and Sarah Gillis venturing outside the spacecraft while Anna Menon and Scott Poteet provide assistance from inside. The mission will also conduct 36 research studies and experiments to advance human health and long-duration spaceflight.
You can watch the livestream of the launch on SpaceX’s page on X. Don’t miss this historic event!
