Rocket Learning has introduced ‘Appu,’ a new AI tutor designed to make learning fun and personal for kids aged 3 to 6 in India. Launched with help from Google.org and a $1.5 million grant, Appu starts with Hindi and plans to include 20 languages, like Marathi and Punjabi. Built in just six months, it uses smart tech to teach basic skills like reading, counting, and social growth. The goal is to help 50 million families by 2030, especially in poor communities and government-run centers like Anganwadis.

The launch happened at The Ashok in New Delhi, with important people from government and education there to see it. Rocket Learning says Appu could bring about $4 billion in value to India’s future by giving kids a strong start. With 85% of brain growth happening before age six, the team believes early learning is key to making India smarter and stronger. Vishal Sunil, a co-founder, calls Appu a big step forward—easy to use, adaptable, and built to unlock every child’s potential.

Google.org’s Annie Lewin praised the project, saying it brings AI to places that need it most, like early education. Azeez Gupta, another co-founder, thanked Google.org for their support, noting that Appu isn’t just about money—it’s about changing how the next generation learns. By making quality education free and reachable, Rocket Learning hopes to close the gap between kids who have access to tech and those who don’t, setting a new standard for learning in India.
