Qatar Airways has revolutionized inflight connectivity with Elon Musk’s Starlink WiFi. On its first Starlink-enabled flight from Doha to London, Musk joined a video call with CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer from 38,000 feet.
Passengers experienced high-speed internet, streaming and gaming with minimal lag. This surpasses Qatar’s standard $10 WiFi, which offers just 5 Mbps. Business travelers will particularly benefit from stable, fast connections.
Qatar Airways aims to equip 12 Boeing 777-300s with Starlink by year-end and its entire fleet by next year. Joining Hawaiian Airlines, it paves the way for other carriers like United Airlines and Air France.
Elon Musk assured continued improvements to Starlink’s quality, citing software updates and new satellite launches. With Starlink, air travel enters a new era of connectivity.
