OpenAI has announced a significant upgrade to its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT. Advanced Voice Mode brings enhanced voice capabilities, allowing for more natural and real-time conversations. Powered by GPT-4o, a new multimodal model, this mode enables faster responses and more nuanced conversations.
Advanced Voice Mode also introduces emotional awareness, allowing the chatbot to sense and respond to user emotions. Additionally, users can personalize the chatbot’s responses using Custom Instructions and Memory. Five new voices have been added, expanding the range of options for users.
The rollout of Advanced Voice Mode is gradual, with ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers gaining access first. Enterprise and Edu subscribers will follow next week. While video and screen-sharing capabilities are not included in this initial rollout, they are planned for a future update. OpenAI has conducted extensive safety testing to ensure a user-friendly and engaging conversational experience.
