OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, has announced her departure from the company after six and a half years of service. CEO Sam Altman acknowledged Murati’s instrumental role in OpenAI’s growth into a leading AI company.
Murati’s exit is part of a larger leadership shake-up, with Research Chief Bob McGrew and Vice President of Research Barret Zoph also leaving. Altman emphasized that the departures were independent but coordinated for a smooth transition.
