Oberoi Hotels will also acquire a 51% stake in Pune-based Muttha Towers II Pvt Ltd for Rs 254 crore
Oberoi Hotels, a leading Indian hospitality brand, is set to expand its global presence with the launch of its first hotel in London. The hotel, expected to open by March 2028, will mark Oberoi’s entry into the UK market. This move is significant, as Indian hospitality brands are increasingly making their mark in London.
To facilitate this expansion, Oberoi’s parent company, EIH, will incorporate a new entity in the UK with an authorized share capital of £30m. EIH and its subsidiaries will hold a 51% stake in the new company. This development follows Reliance Industries’ announcement of a joint venture with Oberoi to manage three properties, including one in the UK.
In addition to its international expansion, Oberoi Hotels is also strengthening its domestic presence. The company will acquire a 51% stake in Pune-based Muttha Towers II Pvt Ltd for Rs 254 crore. This investment will support the development of a mixed-use project, featuring a Trident Hotel and commercial complex, with a total project cost of Rs 972 crore. The project is expected to commence commercial operations in Q1 of FY 2029-30.
With this expansion, Oberoi Hotels joins other Indian hospitality brands, such as Taj Group, which operates two hotels in London. The Hinduja Group has also ventured into London’s luxury hotel market with the transformation of Winston Churchill’s former Old War Office.
