NASA is exploring options to send suitable spacesuits to the astronauts or delay their return until February 2025.
NASA astronaut Sunita Williams and her colleague Butch Wilmore are facing a unique challenge as they prepare to return to Earth. Due to incompatibility issues, they may have to travel without spacesuits, which is a crucial safety measure. The problem lies in the fact that the Boeing spacesuits they have are not compatible with the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft that will bring them back.
NASA is working hard to find a solution to this problem. They are considering sending suitable spacesuits to the astronauts or delaying their return until February 2025, when they can ensure a safe journey. The astronauts have been stuck in space for over two months, and their safety is the top priority.
The space agency is taking care of the astronauts’ well-being by sending supply vehicles with food and other essential items. They are also planning to send extra SpaceX flight suits on the upcoming Crew-9 Dragon mission to prepare for their return. However, in case of an emergency, the astronauts may still have to return unsuited on the Crew-8 spacecraft.
