Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, has chosen not to receive a salary for the fourth consecutive year. According to the company’s annual report, Ambani drew zero salary, allowances, and perquisites for the financial year 2023-24. This decision is part of his commitment to moderation in executive compensation levels, which he has maintained since 2008-09.
Ambani’s children, Akash, Isha, and Anant, were appointed to the company board in October last year and received a sitting fee and commission. Nita Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s wife, served as a non-executive director until August 28, 2023, and received a sitting fee and commission. The annual report also highlighted the remuneration of cousins Nikhil and Hital Meswani, which rose to Rs 25.31 crore and Rs 25.42 crore respectively in 2023-24.
