Meta has unveiled the Quest 3S, a budget-friendly mixed reality headset designed for new users and those upgrading from older models. With a starting price of $299, it’s significantly cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro. The Quest 3S comes in two versions: 128GB ($299) and 256GB ($399), launching on October 15.
The Quest 3S shares the same powerful Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 platform as the higher-end Quest 3 but with Fresnel lenses for better visuals. Meta has also revamped its Meta Horizon OS, adding features like Travel Mode and offline entertainment downloads. The new models are compatible with existing accessories like Touch Pro controllers and Elite Strap.
To attract gamers, Meta is bundling the Batman: Arkham Shadow game and three months of Meta Quest+ subscription service with all Quest 3 and 3S purchases. The Quest 3 has also seen a price drop to $499. By offering affordable and feature-rich options, Meta aims to make mixed reality and VR more accessible to a wider audience.
