The successful mission paves the way for commercial launches by the Indian industry and NewSpace India Ltd.
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful launch of its Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). The third and final developmental flight of the SSLV, named SSLV-D3, carried two satellites – EOS-08 and SR-0 DEMOSAT – into their precise orbits. This marks a major step forward for India’s space ambitions.
The SSLV is designed to launch small satellites into space, and this successful mission demonstrates its capabilities. The rocket features three solid-fuel stages and a liquid-fueled Velocity Trimming Module (VTM) for precise orbital insertion. With this achievement, ISRO is now ready to move into the operational phase, paving the way for commercial launches.
The EOS-08 satellite carries advanced payloads for earth observation, navigation, and space environment monitoring. It will be used for various applications like disaster monitoring, environmental monitoring, and fire detection. The SR-0 DEMOSAT is the first satellite from a Chennai-based startup, Space Rickshaw.
